JP-8 Heartfelt Secret Messaging

My client for this project was from the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University. In honor of Chris Thibodeau (he passed away a few years ago), who was Air Force veteran and Brewery Operations major, I designed a beer label. During his time at MSU Denver, Thibodeau had crafted his own beer and named it JP-8 which is short for a Jet Propellant 8, a kerosene-based fuel used for aircrafts. The name was perfect for the richly dark color of the actual beer itself.

Before Thibodeau attended MSU Denver, he was in the U.S. Air Force and he served for a total of twenty-years. His most notable position in the force was being a morse systems operator. The best way I wanted to honor Chris was to design a beer label that was both heartfelt and honorary to his services. I choose to incorporate secret messages of morse code cohesively throughout the design along with choosing a rich color palette that aligned with the beer's dark color.
