My client for this project was at the School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University. In honor of Chris Thibodeau, an Air Force veteran and Brewery Operations major who passed away a few years ago, I designed a commemorative beer label. During his time at MSU Denver, Thibodeau created a beer called JP-8, named after Jet Propellant 8, a kerosene-based aircraft fuel, an apt reference to the beer’s rich, dark color. Before attending MSU Denver, Thibodeau served twenty-three years in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked as a morse systems operator. To honor both his military service and personal craft, I incorporated subtle morse code messages throughout the design and developed a deep, cohesive color palette that reflects the beer’s character.
